iMessage (or Messages) is an application that is included on any Apple device. It lets you send and receive messages to other users of Apple devices through your Internet connection. The messages are sent over the internet instead of normal text messaging because they do not count against any cellular plan, making it a free service (hence the name “iMessage”).
It is popular because it offers a large number of features that the free texting services do not have. These include read receipts, typing indicators, Gif sending and receiving, file sharing up to 5GB in size, aad more. It also has the advantage of being available on any Apple device (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch), so the same account can be used on any of these devices.
It is also useful for Apple users who have poor cell phone reception in areas where they are located, because iMessage uses an Internet connection rather than a cell phone signal to send and receive messages.
Why should you use it?
If you do not want to pay for your texts, iMessage is a good alternative. It offers all the same features as many paid texting services, but it is completely free. It also allows you to decide which feature you need. If file-sharing or Gif sending is not important to you, then they are automatically deactivated and will not use any of your messaging allowance.
It works on all Apple devices, including iPhones, iPads and iMacs. Most other smartphones cannot offer the same extensive range of features, or will require you to pay for them. It is also compatible with Mac computers, which many free texting services are not.

How to change your number so other people can’t find out what your phone number is and add you as a friend on their iPhone
iMessage is a largely free texting service provided by Apple. It allows you to send messages from your iPhone to another person with an iOS device, or even to an Android or Windows phone if they are connected to the internet.
If you have a Mac computer or MacBook then the way you access iMessage will be a little different. Mac computers have their own version of iMessage built into the computer’s software. One way to do this is through the Messages app that comes preinstalled on your Android device. Not only can it send text messages, but also many other types of messages such as photos, videos, voice messages, status updates and locations.
